Our purpose statement "Bringing Hope to our World" reminds us that even though we can't save THE world (that's God's job), we can bring Hope to OUR world - the world of eight to sixteen people where God has planted us. We call our world our "Oikos," which is the Greek word used in the Bible to describe our relationships with our family, friends, and neighbors.
In our logo, the tree symbolizes our world and the goal to bring Christ into its center. The leaves represent the growth that God brings when we intentionally plant, water and pray for the people that God has put into our world.
We believe that the Bible knows what it's talking about, and that we should do what it says.
With that in mind, we put a lot of effort into studying the Bible using established interpretive techniques that call upon the guidance of the Holy Spirit, knowledge of the Bible's original languages, understanding of the Bible's historical context, and the combined wisdom of Christians throughout history.
.
Our goal is to apply the Bible to our daily lives in ways that will have an impact on our world with the reality of God's grace in Jesus Christ.
If you have never attended service here at Southside, we are a small congregation with a big heart and very much like a family. We have a long-standing practice of always having "an empty chair." This means we will always have a place for visitors to come in, hear Pastor Jim's message, and learn what Southside is all about. Service is held every Sunday with a blend of traditional worship hymns and contemporary Christian music performed by our praise band.
Please join us for our fellowship time at 9:30 am for a cup of free coffee, water, and snacks. The praise band begins at 9:55am with service starting at 10:00 am
